Dr. Scott Barao Receives Award at Cattlemen's Convention
Dr. Barao is a graduate of Michigan State University where he received a doctorate in beef cattle nutrition and management. He also holds a masters degree in microbiology and a bachelors degree in human nutrition and biochemistry.
Scott held a faculty position in the Dept. of Animal Sciences at the University of Maryland for 20 years where he served as the state Beef Cattle Specialist and Beef Program Leader. There, he directed all beef research and education programs at the university's Wye Research and Education Center, the home of the historic Wye Angus herd.
Scott has been with the Jorgensen Family Foundation since 2006 overseeing the operation of both the foundation and the farm.

Jay Fulmer, Farm Manager
Jay joined the Hedgeapple team in 2010. He and his wife, Nancy, live on the farm.
Dr. Barao is a graduate of Michigan State University where he received a doctorate in beef cattle nutrition and management. He also holds a masters degree in microbiology and a bachelors degree in human nutrition and biochemistry.

Mr. Fulmer is a graduate of Penn State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Jay has been involved in different aspects of the beef cattle industry for most of his life and he clearly loves raising and caring for cattle. He purchased his first 4H steers in 1965 and never looked back!
Jay is passionate about agriculture, especially beef cattle and forage production. In addition to his role at Hedgeapple Farm, Jay also served on the boards of directors for the Maryland Cattlemen's Association, the Maryland Angus Association and the ABC Junior (cattle) Show.

Scott and his family were presented the 30-Year Top Hand Award during the annual Cattlemen's Association Convention, held March 2 - 5 in Hagerstown, Md. For the past 30 years, Scott has planned, with his family's support, the Cattlemen's convention - sought sponsorship, booked speakers, organized ticket sales, special hotel rates and more - all with dedication to the industry he loves.
Hagerstown's Mayor, Robert Bruchey, was on-hand to present a 30th Anniversary Award to the Cattlemen's Asscociation to show the city's appreciation for the Association's continued support.
